No More Bondage to Sin

Should Christians still struggle with bondage to sin? I would say no. Many use Romans 7 to say sometimes Chritians cannot control what they do. But Romans 7 is describing a persons life before Christ. Paul is talking about his state before he got the Holy Spirit when he was a Jew trying to follow the law in his own strength. Someone who genuinely has the Holy Spirit in them to empower them should not be struggling that much with sin. We will never be perfect, but if someone is plagued by sin and it seems they are still a slave to sin I would say it is because they are not really saved or they have walked away from God and lost their salvation. They are the prodigal son and in my opinion not a back sliding Christian or one who is a victim to a demonic spirit, they are simply not saved or no longer saved. Look at Hebrews 6:4 to 6 and 2 peter 2:20 and 21. Christians have to face trials and temptations we are supposed to. God intends for us to in order to strengthen our faith. James 1:2 to 4. Also 1 peter 1:7. Struggle in the Christian life is inevitable and promises by God. It is Gods will and it therefore cannot be avoided. But temptation is not the same as sin. We are to be tempted and not sin and so prove that our faith in genuine. "You shall know them by their fruits." You can know by your own fruit as well if you are saved. "Test yourself and see if you are in the faith." Questions to ask yourself: Am I really saved? And, Am I still saved? May God be with you and increase your wisdom in this and mine. We are to be "as wise as serpents but as innocent as doves."
