Falling Away

Here are some verses on the topic of falling away from the faith in 1 and 2 Peter.... 1 Peter 1:17 "If ye call on the Father...pass the time of your sojourning here in fear." 2 Peter 1:10 "Give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if you do these things u will never fall." These things being faith, virtue, knowledge, patience, godliness, love etc. As Jesus said, "I did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it." The law is still important. It is not how we R saved, we R saved by faith, but "if ye love me ye will kept commandments" Jesus said. Amen. Also 2 peter 3:17 "Beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness." Think of the parable of the 10 Virgins. Half ran out of oil and half didn't. The oil represents the Holy Spirit. Half by remaining in Jesus did not run out of oil. The other half did not remain in Jesus and so did not get to enter heaven. But the implication is that all were saved at one point. All were Virgins or part of the bride of Christ, the church, but some fell away, did not continue in the faith etc. But may we all continue in it to the end and never fall away. :) Jude 1:3 says "It was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you, that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints." Contend means struggle to surmount meaning our walk is not easy and we have to fight to keep it, to remain in the faith. Amen.
