Work and a New Job

I got a job today. :)

At least I'm pretty sure I got it.  She's running my background check etc.

And praise Jesus it's only 3 miles away!

The last job was literally about 30 miles away.  Not cool. lol

And my future boss just might be one of the coolest bosses I will have ever had.   We had a fun talk in my interview today lol.  May God grant me favor with her always and my future co-workers.

I am praying for some great Christian girls to work with, if possible. :)  God let it be so. :) Amen.

I have had issues finding common ground with some co-workers in the past, like if they were talking about affairs or watching pornography or homosexual things.  May God grant me a relatively clean group to work with.  That would be wonderful. :)  Pray for me please. :)

Work is generally hard for Christians because yes we are in the world but not of the world, but it is hard to be in it and not of it.  Sometimes people outright will not like us, because they see the light in us and they want to hide in the darkness.

Paul says, "What can light have in common with darkness....come out from them and be separate."  But what about when you have to work with them?  lol.  But yes it is hard to have things in common with the world.  I was blessed with two jobs before, the ones I stayed at the longest, where I worked with great Christian people, a school and a pre-school.  Most jobs with kids have great people to work with because working with kids kind of feels like a ministry.  It takes very patient and loving people to do the job so usually they are Christian, but not always.

I have tried working in restaurants as a server and that usually isn't a great moral environment.  Retail usually is not either. :(

My original goal was to teach high school English, thus my B.A. in English, but teaching older kids is a very hard and lonely job.  Also, the job never ends.  There are always lesson plans to be done and essays to grade.

You feel like a man on an island all alone in front of the class trying to direct it.

I did teach Junior High English one year and I didn't like it too much.  Classroom management was very hard.  You have to be mean to the kids to get them to do what you want and I didn't like that.

I concluded from that experience that to teach, at least with older kids, you can't really like them because you are somewhat torturing them.  I didn't like making them write against their will.  I wanted writing to be fun for them like it is for me, but for most people it's just not their cup of tea.  So teaching older kids may not be my calling, as I had originally thought it was.

However, I still might go back to school at some point and get a Masters in English and teach at a community college, but most professors are older so that will probably be when I'm 40 or 50. lol  When I have grey hair and I'm wiser and I don't look like I could be one of the students lol.  :)  But I love teaching and I love learning new things and I love helping people learn!  It is so exciting!  I have always, always loved school.  I always got straight A's.  I always loved all my teachers.  Well, except for my Physics teacher in high school lol.  But I always had a lot of respect for them and actually always considered homework fun.  Odd I know, but it's true. :)  I just love to learn!

But for now I am happy to work with little kids.  They are cuter, more innocent and easier in general, aside from all the crying lol.

At my new job I will be working with toddlers at a Kindercare out here.  I am so excited!  I love one and two year older.  That is by far the cutest age in my opinion!  I also LOVE when they are learning how to talk and getting to teach them new words.  :)  It is so thrilling to be there right at the beginning for a human being and help them with their first developments.

I read once in the book Boundaries that all the things we need to know for life, like how to say no and have boundaries etc, we learn from ages 1 to 3.  Those are extremely crucial and formative years that dictate how the rest of our lives will go really.  So my job will be very important and that is exciting!

The best part is I'll be able to start saving, finally. :)

They have the cutest super colorful playground for the kids outside, and the weather is finally warming up so we'll be able to take them outside.

That is the best part of working with kids, getting paid to stand outside and enjoy nature and nice weather. :)  And getting paid to watch kids run around and laugh and play.  There is nothing better in the whole world really.  Seeing children run with freedom and joy on the playground is the coolest thing ever. :)  And they always have the happiest looking smiles and the cutest little kid voices. lol

May I get to stay at this job for quite awhile and have good community with my co-workers.  May God help me to be frugal and wise with my income and to bring glory to Him in all the work that I do there.  May I care for His children well and see them as He sees them, even when they frustrate me. lol.  May God give me patience with them and love for them.  "Whatever you do to the least of these you do unto me."  May I always keep that in mind. :)

I pray God blesses you all in your various jobs.  May you shine brightly for Him and not let the world pull you down. :)  And may God bless you with money as well and take care of you always.

"And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus."  Amen. :)

Grace and peace be with you all! :)
